There is no service in Camber Church this Sunday, there is a big service in St Mary’s Rye when one of their members, Graham Attfield, is to be made a priest, this doesn’t happen very often so we are all invited to that special occasion. It’s at 10.30am. St Mary’s Church, East Guldford is having it’s Fete in it’s grounds on Saturday 30 June between 12 noon and 4pm. There will be a BBQ which you can be sure will be delicious. The East Guldford folk are well known for their great culinary prowess! It’s easy to park there, just drive gently into the field in front of the church, no money involved. Dan’s Diary makes interesting reading this week, he sent the following report: A fairly quiet week in Camber. A Motorbike and a car where involved in an accident on the Lydd road, near to the Broomhill car park, no one was seriously injured, and the incident was dealt with without a road closure. A bicycle was stolen from a chalet at Pontins when it was left unsecured while the residents where unloading their belongings. Also on Saturday, a kite surfer was badly injured when he came down on the beach. He sustained a nasty cut to the head, possible broken collar bone, and a broken wrist which needed surgery. He is still in hospital awaiting his operation and recovering, and has contacted Rob Cass the coastal control officer at Camber beach to thank him and his staff for all their help, as he had to be stretchered a long way off the beach by RDC staff and Paramedics until they could get to a nearby wait car park where an ambulance was waiting. This is another example of the varied work we do at Camber, from missing children, dog related incidents, rogue jet skiers, illegal camping, vehicles on the beach, and parking related problems. All in a days work for the joint operations between RDC and Sussex Police. 2 Caravans in Camber where reported being broken into sometime between 17th and the 22nd June, enquires are still continuing. We remind you the importance of removing all valuables from caravans if they are not being used and remember to leave the curtains wide open. A house alarm in Whitesands Drive went off late one evening, and caused a lot of upset to residents, I was on hand to locate a key holder, and thanks to Jaqui Maxted at Perfect Weekends, the problem was sorted, all good team work, thanks! Also this week Officers from the Sussex Police Roads policing team have been working around Camber and on Sunday seized a vehicle under Section 165 of the road traffic act, in Lydd Road, the driver did not have a valid driving licence.
