Five arrested after reports of someone with a gun at Burgess Hill

Armed police officers attended an incident in Burgess Hill in the early hours of Sunday morning (August 25) following a report that a car was being smashed up and someone had a gun.

The call came at 2.25am from a woman whose car was parked outside Selsby Court near the junction with Daynes Way.

Officers attended and arrested a 21-year-old woman on suspicion of drink driving and a 26-year-old man on suspicion of threats to kill, criminal damage and actual bodily harm.

Subsequent enquiries led to the arrest of a 20-year-old man on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon, a 26-year-old woman on suspicion of criminal damage and a 24-year-old man on suspicion of possession of cocaine.

All are from Burgess Hill and after questioning, all were bailed until November 6.

A search of a nearby property located a BB gun, which was seized by police.
