Taxi driver assaulted in Bognor High Street

It happened as the taxi driver was waiting on the rank outside Iceland in the High Street and he was assaulted by another man, police said.
The incident took place at around 2.15pm on Tuesday, June 28, when the 55-year-old driver of a Yellow Star Cab was attacked while sitting in his car.

Hide AdPolice have reported that the driver got out and a ‘scuffle’ ensued, which was eventually broken up by bystanders.
“The assailant, a man in his early 40s, then ran off. The victim was left with a torn t-shirt, scratches and bruising,” Sussex Police said in a statement.
Police would like to hear from anyone who saw what happened or who became involved in separating the two men.

A 43-year-old man from Bognor Regis has been arrested on suspicion of assault occasioning actual bodily harm and bailed until August 2 while enquiries continue, police added.
