It will look at the whole food system and encourage people to celebrate local foods, buy direct from local producers and eat more fruit and vegetables. The East Sussex Food and Health Partnership project has invited people to attend its launch at Hillcrest Community Centre, Hillcrest Road, Newhaven, from 10.30am-1.30pm, on February 12. Projects will target food in schools and residential homes, village shops, farmers' markets, horticulture and community food initiatives. Sarah Davies, food and health programme manager for the partnership, said: 'The food and health partnership will provide a strong voice for members of the local food system at both a regional and national level. We will be bringing together people working in the areas of the environment, health, economic development and the community to tackle access to a healthy diet, and support the local food economy.' The event will feature a talk called Local Food Projects in a National Context by Dr Martin Caraher and lunch prepared by the Hillcrest Community Caf .
