Ivy celebrates reaching 102
Ivy Pickard celebrated the latest birthday of her long life with a small party complete with special cake.
She enjoyed herself on July 19 in the usual quiet manner which has marked her 15 years at Oakland Court in Admiralty Road.

Hide AdMrs Pickard is the most elderly of the home's residents. She moved there after she had come to Bognor Regis with her late husband, Kurt. He died in the early 1990s. They had no children.
The couple had met in 1939 when he was a bus driver for London Transport where Mrs Pickard also worked.
They were soon parted when Mr Pickard went missing while he served in the armed forces during the Second World War.
Mrs Pickard believed he had been killed but he turned up at the family home after the war, having been held as a prisoner of war by the Germans.

Hide AdMrs Pickard was born at Edmonton in North London. Her father was a watchmaker and jeweller and she had four brothers and six sisters. She has outlived them all.
