Littlehampton concert highlights Amazon tribe’s plight
The Edwin James Festival Choir and Orchestra will give a performance of the ecological work, Yanomamo, by Peter Rose and Ann Conlan, at St Mary’s Church, Littlehampton on Saturday (May 4) at 7.30pm.
The work was commissioned by the World Wide Fund for Nature to highlight the pressures facing the Yanomamo (forest people) tribe in the Amazon Basin, where they have lived for thousands of years. Poverty, greed and population growth in the countries surrounding them are now placing their future in jeopardy.
