Less of the 'nanny' let children swim

I share the sentiments of councillor Butler entirely '“ what better joy can there be to give the gift to a child of being able to swim, one that could be a life-saving gift, the joy of hearing children laugh and enjoy themselves?

Children are our future and as adults we have a responsibility to help them in any way we can.

And yes, I am of the older generation with children and grandchildren.

It seems so unfair that planning has to take into consideration the views of a few neighbours who, seemingly, are objecting to a few hours a week '“ and not that many in this weather '“ when the swimming activities are going on and with a few cars in the road.

Sorry, like it or not we live in times when most roads are overcrowded with parked cars, but there is little that can be done about it.

Especially wrong when planning regulations seem to permit an endless amount of large developments, creating blots on the landscape and giving little or no thought to neighbours' lives being turned upside down, months of developers' vehicles clogging up the roads, noise and pollution by the bucket-load!
