There is no response to chairman of the Arun Access Group, Mr Dunne, who made valid comment on the statutory duty of care of the council, and a warning of the future inevitability of cyclist/pedestrian collisions.
There must exist dire possibilities of injury, or even worse, which will result in legal claims.

As full public consultation has been disallowed up to now, the various contrary arguments are now on public record in the columns of the Littlehampton Gazette.
These could be quoted by aggrieved parties and insurance companies to resist claims for compensation.
Will the ratepayer be expected to pick up the tab for damages?
Could councillors be put at the risk of having to do so?
