Peak of storm ‘likely to hit at 8am’
Winds are currently gusting up to 62 mph across the coast - high enough to cause structural damage.
Fallen trees are blocking roads in many areas, with reports of road closures affecting A21, Rye, Eastbourne, Bexhill and Hastings, as well as many local roads.

Hide AdOvernight rain water is not clearing blocked drains and remains a hazard on roads, already littered with tree debris.
Police advice is to remain indoors unless your journey is imperative and councils have told residents not to put their bins out if it is your collection day. No refuse lorries will be working this morning and the bins could cause a hazard.
The worst of the rain, however, has passed and flood alerts are at their lowest.
Rail services remain severely disrupted until at least 9am, with a ‘reduced service’ on the South Eastern network and no trains running by Southern Railway until 9am, including the Gatwick Express.
