Poulters Lane road surface described as '˜dreadful' after reopening
Poulters Lane, in Worthing, opened on Thursday five weeks earlier than had been expected.
The road had been closed since early September to allow Southern Gas Networks to carry out £150,000 improvements.

Angela Byford said: “That road is no longer smooth. They should be made to mend it as they found it, otherwise tax payers will be paying again for the repair.”
Jacqui Campbell added: “What a terrible finish on an extremely busy road as it is very bumpy to say the least. Not a job well done.”
Claire Richardson said: “Dreadful resurfacing but at least it’s open again I guess.”

Some readers were slightly concerned that the work had been finished much earlier than planned.
Dan Tully said: “Well done for getting it open early, but if it can be done in seven weeks, it could have been done during the summer holidays whilst the roads were quieter.”
Kevin Paul Granger added: “Their five week early finish left a horrible bumpy road and now shortening the life of our car parts.”

Councillor for the Offington ward Louise Murphy said: “We contacted Sussex Gas Network (SGN) - who worked with West Sussex County Council and Highways England - about the road surface and they told us that the road will feel bumpy to begin with until it has embedded.
“We would like to say a massive thank you to all at SGN, WSCC and Highways for getting this important road open so early.
“The reopening of the road was certainly not rushed and we are very pleased with the work that has been done.”
