Former Brighton & Hove Albion star Marc Cucurella has been slammed by supporters after footage went viral of the Chelsea defender getting ‘bullied’ by a 16-year-old in a mid-season friendly.

The 24-year-old joined the Blues for a record fee of more than £60m in August, but the Spaniard has yet to recapture the form that saw him crowned Albion’s 2021-22 player of the season.

The full back struggled in Chelsea’s 1-0 mid-season friendly defeat to Aston Villa in Abu Dhabi on Sunday [December 11].

Cucurella had a moment to forget when he was floored by rampaging 16-year-old Villa winger Kadan Young near the Blues’ penalty area.

Footage of the 2020 Olympic gold medal winner being knocked over by Young has been viewed almost 115,000 times on Twitter.

The video was captioned ‘16 year old Kaden Young bullying £60m Cucurella #avfc’ by Twitter user Villa8499, and fans were quick to criticise the defender in the replies.

Lewis Morris said: “Money well spent”, followed by a crying laughing face emoji.

Stephen Chater said: “Absolutely ridiculous someone parted with 60million quid for him”

Twitter user CaughtQuickBreak added: “What do Chelsea do to these players, man?

“So many times I've seen players look like world beaters and end up a joke at Chelsea.

“[Fernando] Torres, [Andriy] Shevchenko, [Romelu] Lukaku, [Tiémoué] Bakayoko, [Álvaro] Morata, [Adrian] Mutu- really wierd [sic].”
