Fire service remembers 'Balchie': 'He leaves a huge void'

It will come as a surprise to no-one that he took his love of sport into the fire service and encouraged colleagues to get involved too.

“His first posting was to Red Watch at The Ridge, starting there on February 21, 2000.

“He was a fitness fanatic and was always encouraging the watch into the gym or thinking up PT sessions for us. His taste of music in the gym was unique!

“He will be sorely missed and leaves a huge void. His cheeky smile and sense of humour will be a lasting memory for all of his colleagues.”
