This followed another typical game of two halves during a 4-0 defeat by second-placed Haywards Heath Town. He said: “We have had an issue of putting two good half performances together. “We either play in the first half or the second half. We played some unbelievably good football in the first half and were a match for them. “In the second half they were a lot better than us. The wind was against us before the break which was bad, but we didn’t make the most of it in the second half. “It’s a poor mental attitude - to get into a player’s head is important. Haywards Heath were probably the best side we’ve played. “Their first goal really shook us but we missed a brilliant chance to score after 20 minutes when Ollie Moore was in a great position but the ball bobbled and he pulled it wide. “All of their players were comfortable on the ball and their goalkeeper didn’t make a save in the whole game. “We just didn’t work him like we should have and they showed why they will finish in the top-two this season with Shoreham.” Haywards Heath took the lead after two minutes when the Bears defence failed to clear their lines and Callum Saunders hammered the ball past Michael Chester. The Bears gradually got into the game and should have drawn level midway through the half when the ball was played in from the left to Jake Holmes but his effort went just wide. The second half started even quicker with regards to goals than the first when Trevor McCreadie beat Chester with a header into the corner of the net within a minute of the restart. Chester then made a double save, but despite his efforts, the ball came out to Jamie Weston who hammered it into the roof of the net for his team’s third goal in the 54th minute. Town added a fourth goal in the 60th minute and it was Weston again 15 yards out who volleyed the ball into the bottom left corner. The Bears were unlucky not to pull a goal back in the 68th minute when Holmes got up well but his header came off the crossbar and Dean Wright dragged a shot wide. With time running out, Niam Rouane made a block on the line then a combination of James Shaw and George Hayward managed to block out the follow up. Heath host third-placed Chichester on Saturday but will be without injured duo Moore and Jake Holmes, plus the unavailable Rob Godfrey.
