Reds and Sids make Sussex cup progress

Intermediate Cup
Extra time was needed for Bosham earn a place in the next round of the Intermediate Cup at the expense of a determined Southwick side.
The visitors edged in front after only ten minutes when Mark Allbright flicked a free-kick into the net.

Hide AdBosham were finding it hard to break down a well-drilled defence marshalled well by Scott de Silva.
Marco Giambelardini had a couple of decent chances, then Matt Docherty slammed home a rebound after a shot from Neil Redman was well saved by Steve Allfrey.
After the interval Allbright’s surging run was rounded off by a sublime finish past John Pope.
Bosham had Southwick all over the place in the final ten minutes and minutes from time, Giambelardini reacted to a flick from Joe Hancock and produced the sweetest of chips home.

Hide AdIn the added period sub Kieran Hartley was in the right place at the right time to slot in, Docherty got his second and Giambelardini added the gloss with another typically flamboyant finish to seal the win.

Sidlesham cleared another hurdle in the cup.
An 18-yard effort by Sidlesham’s Paul Barnes went wide and low.
Tom Bailey’s shot was cleared off the line by a Rustington defender.

Hide AdRustington went ahead on 31 minutes but Sidlesham didn’t let their heads drop.
They drew level when a corner was cleared to Andy Hounsome whose ball in was put away by Bailey.
On 71 minutes Jim Brown got one on target, making the score 2-1.
The Sidlesham defence remained strong, calm and in control.
