Hastings United Football Club's quest for a play-off place was given an unexpected boost last night (Tuesday).

The U’s remain in the final Ryman Football League Division One South play-off spot of fifth after rivals Faversham Town suffered a surprise 2-1 defeat away to 18th-placed Sittingbourne in their game in hand.

Anything other than a loss would have moved Faversham above United, but the U’s stay ahead of the Kent club on goal difference with two matches remaining.

United’s final games are away to 10th-placed Ramsgate this coming Saturday and at home to ninth-placed Herne Bay the following weekend. Two victories would almost certainly secure a top five finish.
